How Suboxone Works
Suboxone is a brand name of a buprenorphine/naloxone medication. Other brand names include Sublocade, Brixadi, and Subutex. This medication curbs cravings while providing relief from painful or uncomfortable opioid withdrawal symptoms. Suboxone is safe for long-term use and is part of a comprehensive approach to treatment that involves counseling and case management.
Initial Induction
– Manage Withdrawal –
Initially, our clinicians will monitor the patient’s withdrawal symptoms and provide Suboxone as needed. During this time, our team will review your medical history to ensure that the patient receives Suboxone at the proper dosage.
Outpatient Treatment
– Heal –
During treatment, patients will continue to receive Suboxone as their provider prescribes. The patient will engage in group therapy and one-on-one counseling sessions to help them address the underlying causes of their opioid use disorder.
Medical Taper
– Recover –
Some patients may benefit from medical tapering off the medication as part of their treatment plan. However, others continue to receive Suboxone to encourage long-term recovery. Our treatment providers will work closely with each patient to determine the proper strategy for them.
