How MAT Clinics Work
Medications like Methadone, Subutex, and Suboxone provide relief from painful or uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. These medications are safe for long-term use and are part of a comprehensive approach to treatment that involves counseling and case management.
Initial Induction
– Manage Withdrawal –
Initially, your provider will monitor any withdrawal symptoms you may be experiencing and use MAT as needed. During this time, they’ll review your medical information to ensure that you’re receiving the proper dosage.
Outpatient Treatment
– Heal –
During treatment, you’ll continue to take medication as your provider prescribes. You’ll engage in group therapy and one-on-one counseling sessions to help you work through the underlying causes of your drug use disorder.
Medical
Taper
– Recover –
Some patients benefit from a medical taper as part of their treatment plan, while others continue to take medication to promote long-term recovery. Your provider will work closely with you to determine the right approach.
