‘They’re like a family here:’ BrightView’s Danville location celebrates 1 year anniversary

rightView’s Danville location is helping people get their lives back on track. They celebrated one year of providing addiction treatment to those on the southside. During it’s first year BrightView has helped more than 350 people fight substance abuse. BrightView says they help people in the community by providing more than 1,000 hours of medical treatment and clinical services.

Over thirty local organizations gathered in the square Thursday afternoon to do their part in the fight against overdose. Thursday (8/31) was International Overdose Awareness Day in honor of both those who have lost their lives and survivors of overdose. Addiction treatment center hosts community event

Brightview, an addiction treatment center in Warren, hosted a community event at the Warren Family Mission. Mission leaders say it’s important to give people information on turning their lives around. The event had 17 providers handing out resources for mental and physical health. BrightView Health community outreach manager named first NKY Reentry Champion

“I was a little bit distracted at the beginning when they were reading who was winning the award—I was trying to get registered to win the big TV,” Community Outreach Manager at BrightView Health Rebecca Bollens said. “It was buffering and buffering; finally, I gave up because they were talking about this person that’s winning this fabulous award, and I thought, ‘Wow, this is really great. I wonder who it is.’”

The CAREER Act is in action in Eastern Kentucky

Addiction Recovery in Kentucky is being supported through government funding from the CAREER Act or The Comprehensive Addiction Recovery through Effective Employment and Reentry. The bill was introduced for reauthorization in June after it was originally filed in in 2018. U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Congressman Andy Barr, worked to pass this bill because of the issues the Commonwealth has with substance use disorders.

‘The right thing to do’; Metro Public Works employees save man’s life while on the job

Several people were frantically waving for help as they pulled a young man from his car, suffering from an apparent drug overdose. Gardner, who is a retired firefighter, and McKinney stopped and quickly jumped into action once they learned the man was not breathing and had no pulse. Brightview Health employees Sari Cason and Crystal Barajas also stopped to assist and provided additional Narcan.
